Cornmeal Upma Kozhukattai |
Ingredients:
• Cornmeal- 2 cups
• Green chili - 2 nos
• Toor dal – 2 tsp
• Jeera – 1 tsp
• Red chili - 1 nos
• Asafoetida – a pinch
• Black pepper – 5 nos
• Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
• Urad dhal - 1 tsp
• Bengal gram dhal - 2 tsp
• Curry leaves - few
• Grated coconut - 1 tbs
• Oil - 1 tbsp
• Salt to taste
Method
• Heat the pan with oil and add mustard seeds
• When it pops add urad dhal, bengal dhal and curry leaves
• Fry till golden brown and add 31/2 cups water and then add salt and asafoetida.
• Now grind coconut, toordal , jeera, red chili, green chili and black pepper.
• Add the grinded mixture to the boiling water and now add cornmeal and mix without any lumps
• Close it with a lid and Cook it in slow flame for 5 minutes.
• When it is done leave it for 15 minutes to cool.
• Grease the idli plate and make the upma into balls
• Place the kozhukattai in the greased plate and steam it for 5 minutes
• Serve hot with coconut chutney
